I will be the first to admit that the 50mm focal length is my least used, as I am just terribly uncreative and awkward with it, but when I reviewed the Sony a7 III and got to use this lens, I have to say I was really inspired by just how clean and sharp every image was, and it made a difference in my experience with the focal length. It is definitely a fantastic lens, and with an 11-blade diaphragm, it produces particularly smooth and unobtrusive bokeh that, when combined with its ultra-sharp rendering, creates images that simply pop off the screen with an almost three-dimensional effect. one of my favorite lenses. really shines with a7riv. really wish the 35/1.4 was even close to this in sharpness etc. since i use that more often.
Wondering how it compares to the 55mm 1.8 which has always been phenomenal?
i had a 55 loaner and it was ok. while it is small the images from it were nothing like on 50/1.4. the 55 and 35/2.8 zeiss are disappointing imo. good but no character and for that price i want character.
