Sigma's Latest Lenses: A Perfect Fit for Mirrorless Enthusiasts

Sigma has announced the release of three new lenses: the 17mm f/4 DG DN Contemporary, the 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, and the 50mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary.

The Sigma 17mm and 50mm lenses are designed for full frame mirrorless cameras, while the 23mm lens is designed for APS-C cameras. The lenses are priced at $599, $630, and $549, respectively.

The Sigma 17mm f/4 DG DN Contemporary is an ultra-wide angle lens designed specifically for full frame mirrorless systems. It features a metal barrel with a textured focus ring, an aperture ring, and a lens hood. The lens achieves a close focusing distance of 12 centimeters and a 1:3.6 magnification ratio. The stepping motor allows for swift autofocus for stills and video applications, and the lens is ideal for vloggers, hikers, and landscape photographers.

The Sigma 50mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary features an AF/MF switch and an aperture ring on the all-metal barrel. Its f/2 maximum aperture delivers lots of bokeh, and Sigma claims its optical design produces performance comparable to the 50mm f/1.4 DG DN | Art lens in a more compact form. The lens is resistant to backlighting and produces minimal flare in challenging conditions.

The Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a wide angle, fast-aperture prime lens specifically designed for APS-C mirrorless systems. The lens boasts a compact and lightweight body, weighing 340 grams and measuring 76.9 mm in length. Equipped with a quiet, high-speed stepping motor, the lens offers swift and silent autofocus for both still and video capture. Its excellent flare and ghosting resistance make it ideal for various photography styles, including landscapes, journalism, and everyday photography.

Overall, these lenses offer a wide range of capabilities for photographers, from ultra-wide angle to standard prime lenses, designed specifically for mirrorless systems. The lenses will be available in Sony E mount, Leica L mount, and Fujifilm X mount, and they will be available to order later this month and will ship in the summer of 2023.
