Tamron has been absolutely killing it lately, with the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD lens being wildly popular among Sony shooters and the announcement and release of several new lenses that widen their Sony lineup by quite a bit more. However, it seems the company has no intention of slowing down, as they have just confirmed that they have six more lenses in the works.
In a brief interview at the 2019 PhotoPlus Expo, Jared Powers, a technical representative for Tamron, confirmed that the company has six more lenses on the way for Sony shooters beyond those already announced. The company recently rounded out the holy trinity of f/2.8 zooms with the announcement of the 70-180mm f/2.8, which joins the aforementioned 28-75mm f/2.8 and 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD lenses. Along with it came the 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f/2.8, and 35mm f/2.8 lenses, all highly affordable primes. The company did not tell the representative any information beyond the number of forthcoming lenses, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some longer prime lenses with moderate maximum apertures, a longer zoom (something like a 100-400mm or 150-600mm), and perhaps a macro lens of some sort. Either way, it's very exciting news, as the company has offered Sony shooters far cheaper alternatives that have been lauded for maintaining their optical quality.
