Versatile and Sharp: A Review of the Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD Lens

The Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD lens offers a highly functional focal length range with wider apertures than we normally see in high zoom ratio designs. In addition, it's quite affordable, making it an interesting prospective lens for quite a few photographers, especially those who do not want to carry multiple lenses. Check out this helpful review to see if it's right for you.

Coming to you from the The Phantom Photographer, this great video review takes a look at the Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD lens. I have to admit that I was pretty jealous of DSLR shooters when this lens came out, as it's only for Canon EF and Nikon F mounts, and it looks to be a very strong performer with a highly useful focal length range, all wrapped up in quite an affordable price. This makes it an intriguing option for a multitude of photographers, particularly those looking to travel light while still having decent versatility and image quality or who simply want the convenience of its zoom range. If such a lens sounds appealing to you, check out the video above for the full rundown on its pros and cons.

"...particularly those looking to travel light while still having decent versatility and image quality..."

From what I read, including reviews, it's not just decent but excellent image quality.

How much is "quite affordable?"

Hi Jacques, in the United States the recommended retail price is $799. I did this review from Australia where the RRP is $1,299. Hope this helps.

I rented this lens for a recent trip to Puerto Rico. Only changed it out for another once, and was so pleased with the results, I have since purchased it. Highly recommend.

I have this lens and can confirm great IQ and versatility. A bit heavy, but balances nicely on my D750. Will also work with Z6/7 (and FTZ adapter), no firmware update needed.

Alex,

Thank you for actually writing a review yourself, instead of just telling me to watch someone else's work on YouTube. ALL articles on Fstoppers should be originals like this one is!

EDIT: I stand corrected. Dammit, this is just another "go watch someone else's work on YouTube" article. But I was fooled because the YouTube thingy wasn't at the top like it usually is. Content like this is useless to me. When I want to see things on YouTube, I go to YouTube. I don't need Fstoppers to help me find things to watch on YouTube. Duh. This linking to YouTube stuff is a really bad business idea.
