Though they simply cannot offer the same level of image quality of less extreme lenses, superzoom lenses can often give you quite good image quality with the added convenience of a very wide range of focal lengths all in one device. Coming to you from Christopher Frost Photography, this excellent video review takes a look at the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports lens. I have always been intrigued by this particular lens. Most full frame superzoom lenses are normally somewhere around 28-300mm, but one that starts around a normal focal length and continues out to such an extreme zoom level is an entirely different beast and one that could be a great find for people like wildlife photographers, who might want to be able to switch between a fairly close scene to something very far away both easily and as quickly as possible. Sports photographers are another group who come to mind for such a lens. It is certainly one of the more unique optics out there; check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts.
I've been using a sigma 60-600 since March. It's far and away my favorite lens. While I use it mostly at the 600mm end for birding, I almost always have a situation where I want to use the 60mm end, and something in between. In particular at 200mm it has a very short minimum focus distance resulting in x0.4 magnification factor.
