What Is the Best Fujifilm Lens?

Fujifilm has some great lenses and great cameras, with a lineup that has been consistently improving for years. But which lens in this lineup takes the gold medal in your opinion?

I am a big fan of Fujifilm as any regular reader of mine will know. While I was sold on their products by their medium format cameras, my time with their smaller sensors has impressed me all the same. The issue that has plagued manufacturers of cameras outside of the top two or three has traditionally been the number of lenses available for the systems. That is, not only do Canon, Nikon, and most recently, Sony, now have great selections of lenses that they themselves make, but other companies like Sigma and Samyang produced lenses for them too. For quite some time, getting new lenses from dedicated lens-only manufacturers for systems like Fujifilm or Panasonic was difficult or impossible.

Now, it seems, Fujifilm, in particular, have bolstered their ranks substantially. This year alone has seen several new and exciting lenses for the X-Mount, including the much anticipated 50mm. The Fujifilm XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens had caught the attention of many primarily for the obvious metric: its maximum aperture of f/1.0. This puts the lens firmly in the camp of some of the fastest glass you can buy for any camera, and you might expect this to easily top the "best Fujifilm lens" charts, but it doesn't, at least for Andrew & Denae who claim it misses eye focus too often.

What Fujifilm lens would you put at number 1?

The 90 mm tele lens is awsome. It's the best portrait lens I ever used, and there are many from Canon's 135 mm to different Nikon lenses and the 75mm Olympus glass.

ECB Fujinon GXD 180mm f/3.2.

The 35mm f/1.4.

I don't own Fuji, nor have I shot with one, but the 110mm f2 for the GFX line is fantastic when viewing shots taken with it. It would be the first lens I'd buy if I were to move to the GFX line.

I've been lucky enough to own most of the Fujifilm lenses but without a doubt the 56 1.2 is one of the finest lenses I've ever used.
Also, the 16 1.4 and 35 1.4 are more than worth a mention.

16-55 f2.8 for me, as a Landscape shooter its amazingly sharp and feels great when paired with the X-T2.

I have used the XF 18-55 2.8-4 OIS for many years, and am very impressed. Speed is useful, sharpness is good and weight is ca 300 gram. Such an universal qualitytool at this low weight I like :)

I think the 16mm f/1.4 has a good claim to this - everyone who uses it seems to love it.

I think the 50mm f/2 deserves a mention as a great lens that doesn't get much attention. It's compact, very sharp, and focuses quickly, and I think f/2 gives a shallow enough DOF for most purposes, even if it doesn't seem as sexy as its f/1 and f/1.2 cousins.
