Zeiss Loxia 2.4/25 Lens for Sony Mirrorless Cameras Is Announced

Today Zeiss announced their latest addition to the Loxia lens lineup for Sony E-mount cameras.

The new Loxia 25mm f/2.4 lens shares the same sleek, all-metal barrel design of the rest of the line; something I fell in love with while reviewing the Loxia 35mm f/2. Likewise, this is a manual focus lens from the ground up, and with that comes great consideration into the focusing ring tactility. Zeiss has also welcomed videographers into the Loxia line by including the ability to de-click the aperture ring for smooth rotation during filming. One other key area of focus with the Loxia lenses are their compact size. Together, these design choices resulted in a rugged, on-the-go style lens for the Sony Alpha mirrorless system.

The Loxia 25mm’s purpose, according to Zeiss, is geared towards landscape and architectural photographers who require high resolution across the frame with little distortion. Below are various technical charts released by Zeiss examining the lens’ characteristics.
