Thanks Mike. This technique lends itself to abstract images. ICM stands for Intentional Camera Movement. For this image I set speed to .4 sec., focused on the top of the trees and released shutter while panning straight down. Cool effect. I am playing around with this technique a lot now.
Hi Derek. This is a great technique to use on trees - with strong vertical lines and a darker forest floor for contrast. This one has come out wonderfully. I have tried this on occasion myself and is very hit or miss.
It is definitely worth playing around with. Path blur in PS works well too with the bonus that you can try different settings to get the result you prefer.
