"STYROFOAM EDITING CHALLENGE"

what can I do to make it a bit more attractive. It's a simple material. In this case one dot is different. But I guess you already saw that part.

Update: you are free to edit this one.
Update: Because of the huge succes the challenge is open until 23 February

Update:

And we have a winner in the first contest. Congrats Alan. I like the crop ( a bit more as Ruth) and the tone. So you have won your own hiking trip in your neighborhood. Make sure you enjoy.

Make sure you all follow Alan.........

I would focus on the odd one out even though it is the standout already. Perhaps .. a Lego hand rising out, 'lava' dribbling out, coloured arrows pointing to odd one, little bunch of flowers. That's all a bit lame but you can get my drift.šŸ˜Š

Hahaha, thanks Sandra. Thats the way I like it. You brought me on a idea but I won't tell yet. I will make a new one with that idea and post it. Give me a few days to find what I need. I hope I still have this styrofoam tho.The hole was in it, I didn't made it.

Jeremy Martignago's picture

good idea sandra.
adding to what Sandra Saied. what about a top down view with a Lego man or something like holding on to the rim with its body inside looking up at the camera?

Nice work Paul! I love things like this. No suggestions from me!

Paul Kroh's picture

Maybe after the second one. We will see.
I see potential .

Ruth Carll's picture

I love that feeling. Cant wait to see what you come up with!

Chris Jablonski's picture

I like it as is, Paul. Less is more, and all that. But - let's see the flowers...

Paul Kroh's picture

Working on something.

Scrambled Eggs's picture

Fine as is. As a wild thought, sepia tone ONLY one other nubin, let them fight it out. Maybe just the 2nd in row on left (the other~ in focus one). Hollow one stays undone or maybe just over sharpen the rim. Will look to see your idea...

If someone likes to experiment, feel free and post it inhere. Photoshop isn't my thing so I will be creative in a different way.
Surprise me.

Well there is a fun challenge! I hope some of those who are into photoshop with the suggestions above give it a try! I tend to be "moody lighting" person so any time I suggest an edit, it is usually to change lighting. I like the original image as it is. But, the suggestion to play is irresistible to me so here is a moody version. Thanks for the openness Paul!!

Paul Kroh's picture

Tnx Ruth, your editing is looking better as the original.

So if we do this challenge we need a price. I would suggest that the winner gets a hiking trip between 60-120 minutes in their local park. And surprise us with a beautiful snapshot, smiling like they really enjoy it.

Ruth Carll's picture

That's a deal!!

21 februari we announce the winner.

If you change the title to "STYROFOAM EDITING CHALLENGE", I will pin this to the top of the posts so it stays there until a winner is picked.

I have been thinking of bringing back the banner challenges so I'll add second prize - a week as the banner of this group.

Paul Kroh's picture

Just did. Deleted the last reply because of some failures in Fstoppers

Paul Kroh's picture

Because I don't have photoshop I just made a silly version to make it more fun and less dramatic.........

Made me laugh .... great way to start the weekend !!!

Ruth Carll's picture

This is great!!

Alan Brown's picture

Why not? I think Sandra has it right with the drama, I think a slight crop helps.

The characters are fun, offering a flip in direction.

Paul Kroh's picture

Thanks for the submission.

Thanks Paul, Iā€™m so honored. I went for a two hour hike today in celebration.

Paul Kroh's picture

Well you deserves it....... And I hope when you become famous and rich you will think of this group. It can happen any time now.

Scrambled Eggs's picture

Selective blue added to left nubin and inside hollow nubin, tonal correction to all but hollow nubin, selective sharpening added to rim of hollow nubin only. "Blue Well"

Paul Kroh's picture

Thanks for the submission.

My thoughts and ideas.. played with toning, focus, sharpness, and a little stylized.

[Note: I love the idea of our own challenges in this group.]

Paul Kroh's picture

Thanks for the submission.

Paul Kroh's picture

And I totally agree that we have our own little contest.

Ruth Carll's picture

Hi All - sorry for the delay! I was traveling.

Alan - congrats on being the first banner winner!
