Grangestone Whisky

Definitely still some polish needed/things to do differently next time. But I decided to go with more of a "sun lit" look this time.

Nice image. Can you explain how you lit and composed the shot? Did you shot in studio or in local?

Thanks Carlos! Appreciate your involvement in bettering this community.

Regarding the image, it was shot in a home "studio". At the time if I had more lights with me I would have set up a strip box, camera right, diffused by trace. A snoot on my key, for the label/neck. Gold bounce card camera left to fill in bottle glow. And a strip box as a 45 degree back light.

How the actual image was accomplished was definitely an even mix of in camera/photoshop. It was actually a one light set up. I had a softbox shooting from behind, camera right. A gold bounce card camera left, filling in left side. directly in front I had a gold reflector bouncing back for the label. In post I completely painted in the gradient for the glow, painted some accented highlights, and added background. Hopefully that gives a clear picture? Thoughts for next time? Also I'll attach the original below.

It seems you have a good idea of what to do, I imagine you didn't have all the gear available to you at the time. But still you managed to get a great image, which says a lot for your ability. Only thing I would say is could've got the gradient for the liquid with a gold bounce behind and moving your light to light this card, and compose the two in your final image. I've done this plenty of times in the past when I didn't had so many lights available to me, and with a little care you can use one light to fake a multiple light setup.
Or if you did a self imposed challenge, you did really good with the final image.

Yeah you are absolutely right, I could have moved it to a side light and blended the two in post. Yeah with the set up I had, I wasn't quite able to bounce that gold card from behind, but I'll think of that next time! Thanks for the tips. Less work in post next time :) Thanks!
