100 Photography Tips for Beginners

If you're just starting out in photography, it can be daunting with how many terms, rules, and acronyms there are floating around, and that's without the practical side. So, here are a staggering 100 tips to help you get started.

As exciting and invigorating as finding a new passion or hobby can be, it typically comes with the eventual feeling of being overwhelmed; as if the mountain is too high and you're too far behind the pack. This is rarely the case, however, and with the right dedication to learning, you can cover a lot of ground rather quickly.

This has never been more the case than in today's world. With oceans of free, educational content on websites (like this) and video platforms, you needn't even spend money to start learning. If you add to that the brilliant paid tutorials out there, of which we have many, and you can be far ahead of where you would have been in any other era.

In this video, Mike Smith goes through 100 tips for beginner photographers. While not every one of these will be of use to every beginner out there, there is more or less a guarantee that there will be something you can learn. My advice for new photography is usually varied, but if I were to pick just one piece and condense it down to a soundbite, it would be this: practice consistently. If you can find a way to shoot every day and to experiment with styles and techniques, you will be creating brilliant images in no time.
