3 Common Landscape Photography Mistakes That Can Derail Your Images

Landscape photography is a tough genre that requires a lot of factors to all come together in order to produce a successful image, ranging from technical aptitude to creative vision and even a little luck with the conditions. As such, it is important to be aware of common mistakes that can derail you in your pursuits. This helpful video tutorial features an experienced landscape photographer discussing three such mistakes and what you can do to fix or avoid them in the first place.

Coming to you from Thomas Heaton, this awesome video tutorial discusses three common mistakes landscape photographers make. I think Heaton makes a good point about tunnel vision. This is a tricky thing, as if you are really serious about coming home with the best images possible, you really need to plan them in advance by scouting locations (this can be done virtually), accounting for the sun's position, and monitoring conditions. On the other hand, things don't always go as planned, and this level of preparation can predispose you to a bit of tunnel vision, which is why it is so important to remain flexible and willing to adapt if necessary. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Heaton.
