7 Common Mistakes Beginner Landscape Photographers Make

Landscape photography is a popular genre, and it takes the confluence of technical skills behind the camera, creativity, and solid post-processing capabilities. As such, there are a lot of places where things can go awry. This excellent video tutorial features an experienced landscape photographer discussing seven common mistakes beginner landscape photographers make and how to either fix or avoid them.

Coming to you from Photo Tom, this great video tutorial discusses seven common mistakes new landscape photographers make. By far, the most common mistake I see is simply overediting an image. Almost all landscape images take some degree of editing to complete. It can be easy to get a bit of tunnel vision and go overboard when you are processing an image, especially when it comes to color. One of the easiest ways to combat this is to simply step away from your computer for a minute or two when you are done editing a batch of photos, then return to your computer to evaluate them one last time before you export them. You'll often end up dialing things back just a bit at this point. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
