Making the Most out of Your Photography in Harsh Weather Conditions

As photographers, we tend to wander outside when the light and our available landscape are in their optimal conditions for our shooting style. So, what if you were to change it up a little bit and challenge yourself to embrace the nature at its worst?

As someone who currently resides and works in the United Kingdom, I highly doubt I will get to experience extreme heat being one of my photographic challenges. Having said that, I can still highly relate to Mike Perea and Chris Perea from Perea Photography as they decided to simply dive into shooting with whatever the day brings to them as they travel into the desert. The less we challenge ourselves in our photography, the more likely are we to become stagnated and disinterested in our own work. It's important to maintain that passion and ambition for growth, whether you enjoy photography just as a hobby or pursue it professionally.

Ditching soft and pleasant golden hour for an extreme heat during the midday hours, the couple are braving the sun and photographing wild flowers and cactus bloom in different compositions and use a variety of equipment, from a macro to a long lens. Working with the available light itself isn't such a big obstacle when your body is physically exhausted from the heat, and all you want to do is get back to a cool and air conditioned car or house! Normally someone focusing more on the wider landscape, Mike Perea uses this shoot to find creativity in photographing smaller details the nature has to offer.

Sometimes it pays to try something different with no expectations and see where it takes you. Do you try and change up the way you shoot landscape?
