Why Bad Weather Can Make Great Landscape Photos

No one really enjoys being out in heavy rain or other bad weather, and it can certainly be tempting to leave your gear in the bag and avoid heading outside. However, if you are willing to bundle up and brave the elements, you will often be rewarded with moody, compelling images that would not be possible in sunny skies. This great video tutorial will show you how bad weather can lead to great landscape photos.

Coming to you from Michael Shainblum, this excellent video tutorial will show you why bad weather can make for fantastic landscape photos. Clear blue skies are certainly much more enjoyable, but they can be rather boring from a photography perspective. Moodier skies might not be as fun to be standing under, but they provide a lot more variety and nuance and as such, are generally more visually compelling. On top of that, many photographers simply avoid such conditions, and that means your images will stand out just by virtue of being a rarer perspective. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Shainblum.
