How a Simple 5-in-1 Reflector Can Drastically Improve Your Work

Lighting equipment can get really expensive quite quickly, but one of the most useful pieces of lighting equipment is actually extremely affordable. The 5-in-1 reflector is something that should be in every photographer or videographer's bag, and this excellent video tutorial will show you how to make use of it to dramatically improve the look of your video and images.

Coming to you from Parker Walbeck, this great video tutorial will show you how a 5-in-1 reflector can drastically improve your work. Though this tutorial is aimed at video work, the lessons are just as applicable to images. A 5-in-1 reflector is normally a diffusion panel with zippered, reversible covers that can create black, white, silver, or gold surfaces, allowing you to deepen shadows, diffuse harsh sunlight to create a flattering, soft source, or kick back light to fill in shadows or add warmth. In fact, they are almost universally in the toolkit of any natural light photographer shooting outdoor portraits, but videographers and studio photographers working with artificial light often use them as well. I personally love the diffusion disc, as I can shoot portraits at any time of day and turn the harsh sun into soft, flattering light. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Walbeck.

In Canada that should read "Transform your video's with this $60 + HST tool. " 😆 Just sayin'.

Why did that driver sound like a 6-iron at the end of the advertisement?
