A Beginner's Guide to Editing Photos in Lightroom

Lightroom is one of the most popular programs for editing your photos, and it is surprisingly powerful, able to tackle a wide range of edits entirely by itself. If you are new to photography and working in Lightroom, check out this fantastic video tutorial that will show you the ins and outs of working in the program through a portrait edit.

Coming to you from Sawyer Hartman, this great video tutorial will show you how edit an image using Lightroom, including the basic adjustments tab, tone curve, HSL and color work, adjustment brushes, and much more. Probably the most important thing to remember as someone new to editing photos is simply to err on the side of doing less. Modern editing programs are extremely powerful, and it can be very easy to take things a bit too far and end up with an overly artificial or gaudy result. A few ways to deal with this include using the before/after function to check the progress of your edit every few minutes or to step away from your computer for a few minutes when you finish an edit to allow your eyes to reset. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Hartman.
