How to Take Full Advantage of Lightroom's Newest Tools

Lightroom continues to advance in its capabilities, making it a more versatile editing platform than ever before. If you have not checked out all the new features yet, take a look at this fantastic video tutorial that will take you through some of the most useful new tools, where to find them, and how to use them for quicker and more powerful edits.

Coming to you from Mark Denney, this great video tutorial will take you through some of Lightroom's newest features. No doubt, it is really exciting to see content-aware functionality in the program, especially when you combine it with the program's ever-growing masking capabilities. No matter what you shoot, the new masking panel is really impressive, with the ability to quickly and easily select backgrounds, skies, or even facial features. I have personally used it quite a bit, and it has notably improved some of my images simply because it allows me to make edits that would not have otherwise been worth the effort due to the time involved, such as bringing back the highlights in a sky poking through a maze of branches and leaves. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Denney.

I discovered the masking update as I was about 85% finished editing ~3,100 photos from our 33 days in Europe last summer. I finished editing the rest of the photos using the new tools and am now about 70% of the way through re-editing the first 85%. VERY useful addition to LR.
