Coming to you from Mark McGee Photos, this excellent video takes a look at Lightroom's new AI-powered noise reduction capabilities. Before this, I very rarely used Lightroom's noise reduction capabilities except for very light adjustments, as it generally just smoothed over noise and cause a lot of loss of detail. This meant I was often round-tripping from Lightroom to other programs and back again, and while that is not the end of the world, I far prefer the convenience of being able to get it done in one program. Furthermore, I frequently work with large batches of photos taken at high ISOs to which I apply the same adjustments, so being able to simply sync the same noise reduction settings across an entire set is a great convenience. While it does not quite match or exceed the performance of some purpose-specific programs, I have found it good enough for 95% of my shots, and that has made it a net gain for my workflow efficiency.
