A Simple Technique to Make Your Photos Pop

When it comes to landscape photography, we talk a lot about how to make photos "pop," but there is a fine line between a photo that pops and one that is gaudy. This great video tutorial will show you a simple and straightforward technique for adding a bit of pop to a landscape photo in a tasteful but effective manner.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this excellent video tutorial will show you how to add pop to a landscape photo. The idea is that in a photo with a lot of one color (for example, a blue sky or a lot of green grass), you want to bring out the nuance in the color a bit more. To do this, you will use the HSL panel in Lightroom (or your editing application of choice) and essentially increase the contrast between the prevalent color and closely related hues. By doing this, you bring out the differences between subtle variations more and create an overall more lively effect. And the beauty of it is that unlike simply pumping up the saturation of the like, it is a more targeted and subtle adjustment, making it easier to maintain a natural aesthetic. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Morganti.
