The Beatles Photographer and Album Artwork Creator, Robert Freeman, Dies.

82-year-old photographer, Robert Freeman, famed for his worth with the Beatles, has passed away. For many years — though sadly less so today it seems — creating a band's album cover was the pinnacle of photographic achievement. At least it was when the albums you were creating the artwork for, were iconic. Robert Freeman did exactly that with the Beatles, many times over. He created the covers for "With the Beatles," "A Hard Day's Night," "Beatles for Sale," "Rubber Soul," and most interestingly "Help!"

"Help!" was meant to have the cover art of the word "help" spelled out in semaphore, but once Freeman arranged the band members in that way, it didn't work photographically. So instead, he picked the positions that looked the best and so it actually spells out "NUJV."

After The Beatles announced Freeman's death, tributes came pouring in.

82, a good innings.
Little confused how John Lennon can post on Twitter though. He’s even got one of those blue tick things.

The man's talents knows no bounds.

I hear the music when I see his images. I rolled joints on the album cover.
