Fstoppers Is on Instagram: Photo of the Day, Writers' Images, and BTS

Some of our readers have been sharp to figure it out, but until now we haven’t formally announced that Fstoppers can now be found on Instagram (@officialfstoppers). Follow us for Photo of the Day selections from our impressive community, images from the talented photographers who write for Fstoppers, and some behind-the-scenes shots of what we’re working on. Leave a link to your favorite portfolio image within our community and we’ll pick some to ‘gram over the next few days.

If you wish to be selected for Photo of the Day on the Fstoppers website and Instagram, there are a few easy guidelines you should follow. Rebecca Britt, our PotD picker, actually wrote a full article all about best practices for getting your work featured. While I recommend reading her entire article, here’s the biggest tip: Fill out all of the information about your photo. This includes the image description, which is where many people find themselves lacking qualification for being awarded Photo of the Day. Having the title, description, and EXIF information filled out is going to put you on top of the pile.

Now that you’re following @officialfstoppers on Instagram and know how to be selected for Photo of the Day, go to your profile and portfolio to make sure everything is filled out. Once you’re set, leave a comment below with a link to your favorite photograph. We’ll be selecting several images from the comments to feature on our Instagram.

Nice going with instagram, great social network

I really think Fstoppers should try to link to the photographers accounts instead of just naming them. Also give me a follow guys :) : maxleitner_

Here is my subission:

We do link to them if they have an Instagram account named in their profile on here. If they don't, I search their name on Instagram, but sometimes we just end up having no account to tag.

I never knew about this...
Looks like I might have to get to work and start sharing my photos on this website. For now, if anyone cares, you can follow me on Instagram at @lthrondson and if one feels inclined I wouldn't mind a direct message of any critiques on my photos.

And here's a nifty photo from me just for the folks out there....

yay Instagram!! Here's one from my insta feed - @thekellerwhale

nice, i'm @ch3m1st in IG.

This is really, really, cool!
Nice work.

thanks for the instagram feature!

EyeEm would have been great because they allow other aspect ratios, use higher resolutions than 6xx pixels and automatically mark nsfw content so that it's allowed and can be seen by those who want to.
Non square images are so tiny on Insragram

Great to see that you are on Instagram! I see that you already have my "Inversion" there. Do you mind tagging it with my Instagram hugohofverberghagman. If you would add website info then: www.hofverbergphotography.se

And here is another from my portfolio

The iPhone on the article photo is a 6 Plus right? I'm trying to decide on size but don't have a chance to see one first hand before I make the online purchase.

You're right, it's a 6 Plus. I didn't have the chance to see one in person before I bought mine either. If you have a checkbook jacket with a checkbook inside, that's about the exact dimensions and thickness of a 6 Plus.

Great Idea...I'm In!!!

@davidjusticephoto

I really believe in the power of networking through Instagram. It is cool to see the photo of the day on Instagram!

In the month of October I took a camera I'd never used before, a Hasselblad 503cw, to 8 European countries. This photo from outside the Berlin Hauptbahnhof is one of my favorites. The man's name is Frank. I didn't catch his last name. I wish I had.

You can find other shots from my eurotrip on Instragram @emptyduckdigital

Bubble Blowing

Composite made from individual shots of bubbles and Michelle. We shot this under the train bridge and multiple speedlites were setup to "pop" each bubble against the graffiti. Shot with the Canon 6D and a 28mm EF lens.

The wind was blowing quite a bit so almost all of the bubbles were blown very close to the lens so they remained in frame. Because they were much brighter than the background, each bubble layer was set to "Lighten" in Photoshop layer options. This allowed me to have just the bubbles appear as I added each layer.
