Getty's Royal Photographer Reveals Difficulties of Photographing the Family, Says Queen Doesn't Often Smile

Getty’s royal photographer has discussed the challenges the job brings - namely how it can be hard to get the right shot of the Queen since she often “can go a whole event where she's not smiling."

38-year-old Chris Jackson is well acquainted with the royal family; not only has he been photographing them for over 14 years, but his wife Natasha is the Duchess of Cambridge’s stylist.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, the photographer wasn’t afraid to admit that often getting the best shot could simply be down to luck, candidly adding that it can sometimes be difficult to photograph members of the royal family. In particular, the Queen is “not always smiling,” and can often attend an entire event without presenting him with the opportunity of a photo where she looks happy.

Jackson sings the praises of the “wonderful” Prince Harry, but confessed that his touchy-feely approach when greeting the public or his peers, which often includes hugging, can mean it’s tough to get the money shot. "[Harry’s] a big hugger, wherever he goes... You have to be quick off the draw to capture those," Chris explained.

Chris’s aims with the Royals later this year include hopes of capturing Harry and Meghan Markle as they leave St George’s Chapel on their wedding day this May.

Why not link to the original article, which is a whole lot more interesting than just the Mail grabbing headlines? http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/royal-photographer-chris-jackson-g...

I think you missed it.

Obviously someone who doesn't understand what blue underlined words in an article do.

So shoot the Queen without her smiling. If that's her demeanor then capture that emotion.
