This tool allows you to recover a vast range of files, whether it is audios, videos, photographs, emails, documents, or any other types of files that you have lost. It's possible that you lost your files not because you accidentally formatted a card or made the mistake of dropping your storage and caused damage, it could be that it simply failed. I've had an external drive fail on me before but luckily it had files that had already been backed up so I didn't need to worry about it besides being mildly annoyed that I need to purchase a new drive. However, that's just the way technology goes: sometimes it simply fails despite how well you look after it!
The Data Recovery Wizard is available on both Mac and Windows devices. The way it works is that you download the stand-alone software and when you open it, you have an option to pick a device, connected to your laptop or computer, to begin scanning. If it's a memory card, you simply connect or plug it in as you normally would. After selecting your chosen device, a scan is performed and any available files are retrieved.
For example, I used the free version and one of my memory cards to see how much data I can retrieve. The scan found 1112 files with 52.65GB in total. When the scan is finished, you will see a selection of file types that you can retrieve, such as, MOV, JPG, MP4, and others. As you click into each folder, you are shown how many files of that type have been retrieved, and you can pick and choose which ones you want to download back onto your device. Obviously, the bigger the device, the longer this scan will take as more files will need to be searched through. EaseUS recommends that if you have lost your files, you have a better chance to recover them. So, if you accidentally formatted your card several shoots ago, your chances of retrieving any data from that shoot will reduce. Furthermore, when recovering your files, you should save them to another location to prevent corrupting or overwriting the data you are recovering.
When scanning, you can initiate, pause, or resume the process at any time, seeing as some devices may contain an incredible number of files which will take a longer period to get through them all. Obviously, the more data the device holds, the longer this scan will take as more files will need to be searched through
Data Recovery for Mac Users
The free version will allow you to recover the same files as a paid version will, however, the limit to that will be 2GB. The retrieved files can be downloaded and used with no paywall blocking you from doing so but you need to keep in mind the 2GB limit. The paid version, priced at $89.95, will allow you to scan and recover in the same manner as the free version, but you will also have access to 1-on-1 remote assistance, option to recover Time Machine back up, iTunes backup, you will also be able to recover your data to the cloud and to create a bootable USB drive when your macOs is unable to boot up. In advance, you can use Smart disk monitoring to check on the health status of your hard drive to prevent it from failing.
You can also retrieve data that has been lost due to a partition loss as the partition is deleted or when files are located on a partition that is hidden or inaccessible. Similarly, if you have been a victim of ransomware attack or if your macOS upgrade caused data loss, and in other scenarios, you can use this recovery method.
Retrieving Files on Windows
If you're a Windows user, the software works in a similar manner. Whether it is files lost, deleted, corrupted, inaccessible, or if a file-infecting virus attacks or unexpected crashes occur, you can give this software a go to try and get those files back. Something that may be important to photographers or videographers is the option to repair corrupted JPEG/JPG photos. Similarly, you can repair corrupt or damaged MP4 and MOV videos from popular digital camera brands by directly connecting your camera or just the card. As with the Mac version, you can retrieve a very large number of different file types from documents to graphics, video, audio, email, and others.
The free Windows version also allows up to 2GB data recovery and a preview before you recover. The Pro version, priced at $69.95, allows unlimited data recovery and you receive remote assistance if required. The Pro+Bootable Media version, currently on sale for $99.90 down from $129.90, in addition, allows you to boot with a downloadable WinPE when your system fails to start or crashes.
So, if you want to test out the software, you can download it for your Mac or Windows device and see how much data you can retrieve. Hopefully, you are not in a position where important data is lost but we can always be prepared for when it does happen!

Now, why pay if you can just use free OpenSource software? Just donate part of that money to the open project, for those who do it for non-profit reasons. You'll get future improvements in exchange at no additional cost, you'll help others that cannot pay, you'll have your issues considered by the developers themselves, and you'll not get locked out with an unusable license on your next OS or cpu upgrade.
The truth is that Disk Drill free can only recover 500 MB data without cost, which is much less than 2GB.

One should work on a disk image instead of the real disk.
If it is about a crashed HDD, use ddrescue to recover the disk (it the disk still spins up). I did that many times over the years. It works really well.
Good advert. Unfortunately, the experience I had with EaseUS Data Recovery was not as good and rather frustrating. I bough the license, the EaseUS wizard was not able to find deleted files, I requested a refund, and my request was rejected by the company.
