The Future of Streaming: Meet OBSBOT Tail Air

The Future of Streaming: Meet OBSBOT Tail Air

In the post-apocalyptic post-COVID world, video conferencing and streaming have become bigger than ever. The smart features of the OBSBOT Tail Air camera make it far more than just a simple camera with video capability. It has features that you will find in high-end remote cameras. It's small, high quality, and made for everything from large concerts to live interviews.

The OBSBOT Tail Air AI-powered camera is a perfect match between the dimensions of an action camera and the features of a professional video camera. It makes for a really appealing camera for anyone who is serious about video. It can be placed in a plethora of locations around the venue to film high-quality content without too much hassle for the videographer. Here are some of the features that set it apart for me:

4K Clarity With AI Enhancement

The OBSBOT Tail Air tackles that by making the resolution of the camera 4K and adding HDR capability to it. This ensures that you can capture good visuals even in difficult lighting scenarios, for example, in direct sunlight from the window. The AI enhancement immediately takes care of imperfections in your face, ensuring you look your best every day.

Auto Tracking and Gesture Control

Whenever you are self-recording, you often need to check the framing and composition of your image and keep an eye on the edges of the static frame. With the OBSBOT Tail Air, you can hand off the task of tracking you to the hardware. It will track your position in the frame and ensure that you always remain visible. This helps a lot in situations when you are presenting or hosting a webinar. This is something that I would’ve loved to have when filming my first tutorial series.

Another great feature is gesture control. This can be very helpful when it comes to live presenting in front of a whiteboard, as you can control the camera directly from your stage with subtle gestures. Need a zoom for a big statement? Just gesture to the camera!

Multicamera Connectivity

Taking the tracking one step further, how about adding multicam shots? This engages your audience way more, and you can capture content from several angles. This can be especially useful if you want to cut to different frames and show a broader shot, then cut to a close-up and show detail. For example, when presenting, you could cut to a “so-called” B-roll, which will show you from a different angle, making the experience for the end viewer more engaging and interesting to watch.

Additionally, NDI connectivity enables ultra-low latency, as low as 100 ms, which is about the same time it takes to blink. NDI also enables you to stream content at 4K 60 fps while using as much bandwidth as a 1080p 60 fps video feed. As such, you can connect a bunch of cameras together over an Ethernet cable to a router, which will then transmit the video feed over a network directly to your receiver. Moreover, you can even connect different sets of cameras to different routers, making covering extremely large venues easy. The videos are gathered in a shared network and are instantly editable. There are, of course, multiple interfaces to go with all this.

Low-Light Performance

The camera has a very good sensor for a camera of this purpose. With its 2 µm pixel size and an f/1.8 aperture, it can capture content in low light, allowing for much more flexibility when it comes to lighting your shot. You will be able to get a much cleaner image with the OBSBOT Tail Air.

OBSBOT Live and OBSBOT Start App

While having an app is somewhat of an industry standard for a lot of devices on the market, a well-made app is something that not every piece of tech can be proud of. The app is very easy to use and is made in a way that allows for optimal control of the camera with the easiest interface.

Who Is It For?

The audience for the OBSBOT Tail Air is quite wide due to the versatility of the camera. I would say that it is mainly for people who often find themselves streaming or creating content.

Streamers

If you find yourself needing to go live, this camera is a dream. With its AI auto-tracking, you are always center stage, while the high resolution and AI enhancement mean your stream looks high-end. The more professional a stream looks, the higher the percentage of viewers who tune in regularly and stay over extended periods of time.

For example, you may find yourself needing to stream a church service or perhaps a live concert event. This can be quite a complicated production if you want to use traditional cameras. You may need to hire cameramen, someone to manage the video feed, and, of course, a lot of camera equipment. With the OBSBOT Tail Air, you can do it all with a one-person crew, reducing the cost to your customer.

Content Creators

The biggest audience for the OBSBOT Tail Air camera is, of course, content creators. While this camera is, of course, great in your office, you can also take it on location and film content with it. That said, you can easily use it to film a set from multiple angles and with dynamic tracking. This will make for really appealing content for your audience.

Studio Photography and Remote Shoots

This camera could also fit in perfectly when doing remote photo shoots. For example, I am going to be shooting an ad campaign for a client in a different region, and they do not have the time to join me in my Munich studio. Therefore, I was looking for a solution such as this camera. I can provide an unparalleled remote shoot experience to my clients, far better than just going around with a phone and showing them while being distracted from what’s happening on set.

Why Get It Now?

There is never a bad time to get a camera, any camera. There is a better time than ever, though: Black Friday. The Tail Air streaming camera is 15% off its original price from November 21 till December 2. It isn’t just a camera; it is a great way to improve your content and provide a better experience for your viewership.

Closing Thoughts

This is for sure something that I would personally also be interested in, as I am looking for ways to make remote productions possible and serve a larger market of clients. The more I work with people located anywhere from Hong Kong to LA, the more I wish I didn't need to travel and just had a camera such as the OBSBOT Tail Air to facilitate an on-set experience for people thousands of miles away.

This Black Friday is as good as ever to level up your work with the OBSBOT Tail Air camera, a fantastic solution for content creation, live concert streaming, and many other uses! I will probably pick one up for remote photo shoots as well.
