It's Thursday, so I think a throwback shot is appropriate. This one comes from a shoot that I did several weeks ago with Lydia. The thing I loved about this particular image was really the simplicity of it. No elaborate poses, no fancy lighting setup, just Lydia being herself. I think that's how the best photographs are made, when all things work together naturally for the composition.

Love the tones! Great work Rex!

Thanks so much Chris!

love her expression. But could it be that there's some kind of retouching mistake going on right at the edge of the left cup of her bra? I just can't get my head around it :p

Is it that dark spot on her skin just right of the cup? The bra was actually just a little small for her, so it was slightly cutting into her skin, producing that shadow. If that's not what you're talking about, then I guess I'm not seeing what you're seeing. And if it is, then your probably right, that's something I could have taken out in processing. :)

Mistake or not. To me it's not a deal breaker. Either she has truly beautiful skin or your one of the best retouchers I've seen. Not that plastic mannequin look I see everywhere and if you did the eyes you should be held up as a shining example of how to enhance eyes without being too heavy handed. You're my new hero.

Why thank you Matt! I am feeling pretty thoroughly flattered right now! :) I did do some skin retouching, but to be fair, she had great skin to begin with. I do work really hard to make my subjects look their best all while avoiding that mannequin look you're talking about. It can definitely be a tricky balance!

Lovely shot Rex, beautiful model, come and trusting facial expression, flattering light. If I really have to nit pick it, I would have placed her a tiny bit to the left making negative space a bit larger. Wonderful shot mate!

Rex Jones's picture

Thanks Arthur! See, this is what I love about Fstoppers, you may call it nitpicking...I call it sound advice from one to another. :) Thanks man!

The model is beautiful. The posing is simple but sexy. The broad lighting is superb. The shadows are wonderful on the model's left side & the skin tones are excellent. It is unfortunate this image did not include the model's entire body. Thank you for sharing this image.

Thank you Jay! I do happen to have a wider shot from the same shoot that I'm working on. I'll be sharing it shortly!! :)
