We don't have any nice beaches here in Utah. Shooting at the lake is probably the closest thing. But I didn't want to just settle for that. When Loretta approached me about wanting to shoot this style, I wanted to really push trying something different.

The stream here isn't really as big as it may appear in this frame. The trick was to shoot on a tripod, standing in the water, and to shoot low. So the camera really is only about 6-8 inches above the surface of the water. That allowed me to maximize the space as well as make the most of the reflection.

I'm pretty happy with how it ended up!

This is a telephoto lens I imagine. Shot at 35mm focal length?

Did the fly rod come out of her hand on the back cast? Your ability to recognize natural light is incredible.
