Little Bird

Baby birdling that seemed to have fallen out of its nest. Snapped the shot and left immediately after noticing its parents were screeching overhead. No animals were harmed.

Just shows that this camera will never be too old to take a fantastic photo. I got the D810 and it's just perfect for everything. Love this shot.

You're absolutely right! I know the D800 is started to feel a little outdated, especially with all the good new mirrorless options out there right now, but for the first time ever since I started photography, I am completely satisfied with what this camera does for me. I don't need anything more.

Absolutely. I do fancy the D850 to be honest, the tilt screen and light up buttons is a winner for me. What lens kit have you got?

I recently swapped my 24-70 and 70-200 nikkor lenses for 35, 50, 85mm f1.8 nikkor lenses and a Sigma 20mm f1.4 lens.

I do not regret my decision at all, the sharpness shows a lot more.

Oh absolutely, I'd love a D850, but I really cannot justify spending that kind of money on something that will make my shots only marginally better. I honestly don't think my photos will be noticeably better overall. Sure it's better in low light, better resolution, but for the most part, a D800 is more than good enough.

Sounds a lot like what I did actually. I'm running exclusively with prime lenses. Sigma 35mm 1.4, Nikon 85mm 1.4, 105mm 2.8 Macro, and a 300mm F/4 PF + 1.4x TC.

It covers all my bases. No need for a zoom lens.

That sounds like the setup I am looking at trying to afford. The 105 I almost got, so close as well, but opted for the 50 and 85 for the price of the 105.

The d850 is one of those cameras that if you can afford it, then there's no harm in getting it, if you can't, then there's not much point forcing money in to get the camera as it won't improve anything but overall convenience I suppose with the tilt screen especially and low light performance. I do a lot of Astro Photography, so the illuminating lights benefit me a lot.

I'm actually selling my 105. It's a brilliant lens, but it's just not my style. I never use it anymore. Macro is fun, but it's such a niche/specific use that it rarely gets taken out of my bag.

P.S. Love those water shots of yours!

I am following your page on Facebook, I will message you on there about your lens. Thanks as well, they were test shots at first, then started getting into it, and the mess that I created had gone too far, so carried on lol.

Simply fantastic!

Thanks so much!

Wonderful, wonderful photograph!

You are too kind! Thank you, Phil!
