Green Heron

May 17, 2019

Not to be overshadowed by the Sandhill Crane colt I discovered later in the day, I was pretty happy to get a closer look at a beautiful Green Heron. My first sighting of them this year was about a week back when I saw one flying overhead. Hoping for some feeding shots this year showing off their extremely long necks; you would have no idea seeing this photo alone.

Captured with the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV and Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x III on May 16, 2019 at 5:04 PM. I used AI Servo AF mode and multi-segment metering. Auto WB setting.

Raw processed in DPP4. NR, sharpening, and branch removal in PS.

Thanks, Joe. I did brighten it a touch but of course it's nature's design that did most of the work there.
