Mule Deer

Almost every morning in Oregon there was a lovely ethereal fog that made for a beautiful backdrop. On my way from checking the field where the coyotes were to the duck pond, these mule deer were hanging out having breakfast. They didn’t seem to mind me too much, but once a dog and their owner came along on the path they moved on. This deer gave me one good look back while walking away and it’s my favorite of this series of images.

Captured with the Sony a7R IV and Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS on August 15, 2019 at 6:44 AM. I used AF-C mode and multi-segment metering. Auto WB setting.

Raw processed in ACR. Cropped from horizontal frame. Cloned out ears from fawn poking up behind the left deer.
