A recent portrait I shot of my friend. I see so many of the most popular photos of people are often the ones that are drenched in sexuality and objectification (and I'm not innocent by any means when it comes to portraits of men), so I wonder if as a gay man if my lack of sexual attraction to women adds to my portraits of them or takes away from them. Even when going through my friend's instagram feed I see how she portrays herself in a more sexualized way, to the point where it's difficult to even see her in this shot without thinking she doesn't quite look herself, even though this is how I see her standing in front of me. Am I even making sense right now? Honestly I realize these are simply the ramblings of another photographer trying to add significance to one of his own photos that wasn't significant to begin with.
