For the last year, I have been photographing a series about Slovak Carpathian winemakers for Slovak tourism and travel, because not only in South Moravia, but also in Slovakia, great wine is being produced. And the ride was crazy. Once every few weeks through mountains, across rivers and borders. On those damn Little Carpathian hills, it almost cost me a car, a deer life. But mission accomplished.
We started with what botheres winemakers the most every winter, and that is the cut. I knew that it was necessary to prune the vines, but why and that much, Marian Bočko had to explain it to me. "By pruning the vine, we affect the height of this year's crop and it must be trimmed by the end of March, until it is warm and sap begins to flow, which would later cause the vine to water."
