5 Easy Techniques for Retouching Skin in Portrait Photos

Knowing how to light, pose, and shoot a portrait is only half of what it takes to produce a compelling finished product. If you are new to the craft, check out this excellent video tutorial that will show you five easy techniques for retouching skin in Photoshop.

Coming to you from Irene Rudnyk, this great video tutorial will show you five straightforward techniques for retouching skin in Photoshop. If you are new to retouching portraits, one of the most important things to remember is that less is more. It is very easy to go overboard with this process, and it can leave you with overly artificial results that do not look human. A good guideline to start out with is to only retouch things that are temporary: a pimple, a cut, etc. Features that are permanent should generally not be edited out unless specifically requested by the client. It is normally a good idea to err on the side of doing less retouching rather than more. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Rudnyk.
