Quick and Creative Easter Themed Photoshoot Ideas

With Easter coming up, here are a few shoot ideas you can execute both in a studio and outdoors. The question is, how do you prefer your eggs?

When you think about creativity, unless you are a fully-fledged food photographer, it's quite unlikely that you will think to reach for eggs as your first instinct. In several years of pursuing photography, I think I have only once photographed an egg as part of a creative shot, but there are plenty of ideas you can explore if you're prepared to get a little messy.

In this video, COOPH has compiled a list of shoot ideas you can give yourself as a challenge this Easter, ranging from a couple more quirky ideas that could go down well as an activity with your kids to more polished studio still life shots. The beauty of eggs as a subject is in their soft and elegant shape and also their versatility, whether you choose to photograph them intact or broken. You can bend and experiment with light in different ways to produce high-quality looking images that could go in a food magazine or go for a more traditional black and white still life look that would look great as a wall print in anyone's kitchen.

If you are a food photographer in the making or just want to add something seasonal to your current existing portfolio, this video may well inspire you to head to the grocery store and pick up a dozen of eggs to see what you can come up with. And, if you don't have studio equipment on hand, you can still use the light and backgrounds available to you to your advantage without even needing to leave your home. Sometimes, the less we have available to us, the more creativity we inject into our images.

Have you ever photographed eggs before? What are your favorite shots?

Wow, that's really creative! I may not have a lot of creativity but I've certainly never saw Easter photos like these. My own Easter experience includes family pics (with one of the members dressed up as a Bunny for the little ones' amusement) and a smartshow 3d video made afterwards, but this year I have to try something more interesting!

This year with the Easter being more quiet in many countries because of the restrictions, it's definitely a good time to spend being creative and just having fun but also challenging yourself!

Head over to the Joe Pastry blog after to use up all those cracked eggs lol
