I've long been a big supporter of photographers that seek to achieve their look in camera and not rely much on post production. In this 2-D makeup series by photographer Alexander Khokhlov, he created optical illusions in camera with perspective and great makeup. Simply stellar work.
This series is the work of both Alexander and a Moscow makeup artist Valeriya Kutsan. In this series called 2D or not 2D, they tried to create 2D images on the faces of models using perspective and amazing makeup creativity to sell the shot. From sketches to oil paintings to the look of a graphic novel, these two have done a stellar job to create a unique look in camera.

Valeriya Kutsan is really a stunning Makeup Artist (O.o)
Incredible
Stunning!
phenomenal
The basic idea is awesome and the execution is impeccable. However PS in the hands of a skilled person can do all of that all as well. That said, PS has jaded us and chips away at the ingenuity and deftness of those artists.
Well said. And the same goes for motion pictures as well - In my opinion, VFX will almost always top CGI. The latter is often too clean and perfect looking.
Incredible
