Fantastic Posing Ideas for Couples Portraits

Posing is something a lot of us struggle with, and it can be twice as hard when there are two people involved. If you have trouble posing couples, this fantastic video tutorial will show you 10 great poses to add to your playbook.

Coming to you from Lizzie Peirce, this great video tutorial will show you 10 awesome poses for couples. Posing is something a lot of us have trouble with, as it is a bit more difficult to codify, unlike something like camera settings that can be easily quantified. Certainly, with any portrait, but especially with couples, you want to promote natural interaction that translates to organic images, but that does not mean you should never use pre-conceived poses. In particular, they can give you the assurance that you will get shots that your clients will be satisfied with, then take the remaining time to explore your creativity and allow the couple to interact with each other in a more natural fashion. And even so, posing does not have to be a stilted thing; in fact, with the right poses and approach, you can actually jumpstart your couple's interactions a bit. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Peirce.

Great tips and poses, expect for - on most sets they are actually posing rather than looking at each other. As a result (I did not watch until the end), most poses (not all) show emotional disconnection rather than connection to each other.
