When you are new to editing images, it can be a bit overwhelming learning all the various methods and tools professionals use to create the final photos they are known for. If I could give advice to beginners just learning how to edit their images, it would be simply to err on the side of being more conservative in how far you push your adjustments. Modern post-processing software makes it straightforward to apply extreme edits to photos in just a few clicks, and it is dangerously easy to take things a bit too far. This can lead to images that look a bit gaudy or overly artificial. One of the best ways to combat this is to simply step away from your computer for a minute or two when you are done with a session to allow your eyes to reset, then return and evaluate your work with fresh eyes one more time before you export it. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
