A Mesa Morning

A 1:30 AM alarm and hour long drive from Moab, Utah to Canyonlands National Park proved worth it for this shot of Mesa Arch at sunrise. As my only real chance for an iconic location shot of Utah (in good light that is, Arches NP is closed 7pm-7am for construction) I decided not to take any chances and made sure I was the first one to the arch. With clear dark skies I had time to capture some star trails before marking my spot in front of the arch as other photographers steadily poured in. Despite the lack of space (about 30+ people by sunrise) the camaraderie between photographers was very much welcomed. Shot on a Nikon D3300 w/kit lens and edited in Adobe Lightroom then Photoshop.
