great light and expression

Thanks Lee!

The eyes look amazing!! looks like I'm staring into his sole.. Great depth of field..

Thank you Robert. Didn't do much to the eyes at all, he wears these really cool contacts.

Wicked, thanks for sharing.

I'm drawn right into the eyes. Wonderful.

Hey John, thank you!

The lighting! Well done!

Thanks Joakim, appreciate it!

This photo made me go set up my lights. This is an awesome shot. Light, expression, color. Well done!

Awesome Michael, glad it could inspire you a little! Keep rocking it out man.

Really nice Ted, as others have said, really nicely lit and a great expression captured. What light setup was used?

Thanks Christopher! It was a custom set up using canon speedlites and one strobe. On my left was a speedlite bounced into a v-flat that was then bounce off of a white wall to the subject. On my right was a wescott rapid box housing another speedlight with a piece of paper towel folded up and taped over the flash for extra diffusion. The speedlites make up the key and then I had an old Flashpoint strobe with a softbox attached (and flagged) behind him for some back light to separate Nick from the background. Hope that's helpful. Cheers!

Nice lighting

Appreciate it Craig, thank you!

Often see portraits for people of color, have harsh points of light where their features are blown out. You seemed to have mastered the art of lighting dark complexions.
