I shot this photo as an afterthought on a day when I was experimenting with my Canon EF 300mm F4.0L lens. I was on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center when I noticed this small and beautiful solitary flower. Normally I would have used a macro lens and tripod for this shot, but since that wasn't an option, I got down on the ground and stabilized the lens on a branch. The fast shutter also helped a great deal. It was "high noon" but overcast, which was fortunate. "One and done". This taught me that there are so many opportunities out there for great nature photos. You just need to put what you have at the moment to its highest and best use.

'love the shot, very cool dark hue to it rather than punchy brights we so often see with similar subjects
