A couple of weeks ago, I reviewed ACDSee's latest photo editing software release and even said it could replace Adobe products in many ways for Windows users. It was only wise to back that statement up with two complementary articles, this one being the first, showing to Adobe users how they could switch from Lightroom to ACDSee. In today’s write-up, I’ll concentrate on bringing files from previous Lightroom catalogs into ACDSee and also on how to manage your pictures in ACDSee Ultimate 2018.

You may have heard Morten Rustad’s name being bandied about alongside words like “time-lapse,” “Norway,” and “that’s-so-fricken-cool.” That last one might not be an actual word, but you catch my drift. Morten’s pretty good at what he does, and he’s teamed up with film equipment company Syrp to let you in on how he does it.
Most of the photography community knows Benjamin Von Wong for his elaborate concept shoots and his passion for the environment. Recently, Ben teamed up with Austin Craig and Jordan Peterson on an episode of The New Creatives with the goal of using their creative efforts for positive change with a much simpler concept.
Last year, the Fstoppers team joined Joey Wright in Curacao to film one of our best tutorials to date, Swimwear Photography - Lighting, Posing, and Retouching. Not only was the location and team incredible, Joey's photography techniques and ability to work with models produced some of the best photography information I've learned in years. Every lesson spans well beyond the genre of swimwear and can be applied to any shoot involving a model. As a tribute to the tutorial, we are releasing a free excerpt from one of the best lessons on posing I've ever watched.
Our friends at ViewBug teamed up with Trey Ratcliff to celebrate his 80 Stays Around the World tour where he'll be holding free Photo Walks across 10 great European cities! Unfortunately, not everyone can join us in Europe for one of these fun events, so we brought the party to you! Get involved by sharing your favorite vacation or travel photo.
We're always on the lookout for good camera deals and this definitely caught our attention. There is currently a highly rated eBay seller providing brand new Sony Alpha a7R II Mirrorless Camera Bodies for only $2,199.99. That's $500 better savings than any other major camera distributor is providing online right now. Usually we give a little caution with gray market cameras but the seller says these are direct import cameras and they come with a one year US Warranty through the seller. That's a hard price to beat. The cameras come in a limited supply so make sure to act quick.
The Sony a7RII has been out for over a year now but it is still an incredibly competitive camera with it's solid dynamic range, high ISO, and solid video performance. Fstoppers spotted a deal on brand new cameras for only $2,200. Take note that this is an import camera deal. This means it's possible you may run into issues that you wouldn't have purchasing through a standard distributor. That said, Fstoppers has purchased many of it's cameras through gray market purchases without issue. In addition, this eBay seller seems to have a very high rating which makes us more comfortable recommending the purchase. Check out the deal HERE.
If you've been looking for a wide angle lens for your Sony a7R II, or any other Sony E mount lens, this is your chance to get a pretty incredible deal. The Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Auto Focus Lens fits on to Sony E-mount cameras and is currently available at $350 off for only $499, on Amazon only. We're not sure how long this deal will last but the best price for this lens everywhere else we've looked on the internet is $150 more for $649.
Over the last several months, the Fstoppers team was able to link up with Clay Cook, an acclaimed editorial and portrait fashion photographer, to produce a comprehensive tutorial teaching his photography techniques. If you want to learn more about the full tutorial and what it offers, check out the store page. One of the key elements of Clay's work is the variety of gear he has used throughout his career. Included in the tutorial, and now available here on Fstoppers, is a peek into the equipment he uses to craft his stunning images.
When Canon announced it's new 77D, there was a little confusion as to where it fit into canon's line up. The specs make the 77D somewhat of a hybrid between the 70D and the 80D. For a more detailed description of the differences in the models, check out our previous post explaining what each model has to offer. At it's price point of $899, the 77D might be just what you're looking for and is now available to the public.
Panasonic's new Lumix GH5 mirrorless micro four thirds camera is making a big splash in the photography world. If you haven't stayed up to date with it's release or don't know much about the camera, this is your chance to get an in depth preview. Join in with a group of filmmakers and photographers as they discuss the new camera on a livestream panel hosted by B&H.
B&H is offering a few big rebates on popular cameras and it's worth taking a peek. Valid today, Sunday, March 26th, save up to $500 on major camera bodies from Canon and Fuji. Check out all the deals below to see if there's a chance to save on the camera you've been waiting to buy.
Mark your calendars for this Thursday, March 23 at 2 p.m. EST for a chance to talk with Clay Cook, the instructor of our newest tutorial covering fashion and editorial photography. This is a great chance to ask Clay anything you want to know about shooting, lighting, post-processing, and the business side of his work. The event will be held over Facebook live on the Fstoppers Facebook page.
All films start with a small seed. An idea. It’s something we as filmmakers all have in common — we want to turn a thought into something tangible, a place where we can meet someone and share a thought. These ideas change with the season, but there’s always something there. It’s what makes us filmmakers.
We at Fstoppers have always been big fans of the incredible photographers and retouchers who form Retouching Academy. The talent and educational knowledge of Julia Kuzmenko McKim has been shown in our 2015 Fstoppers workshop, through many posts on Fstoppers and Retouching Academy, and is condensed in her Studio Beauty photography tutorial. Now, another instructor at Retouching Academy is stepping up to bring more invaluable information to the community. Michael Woloszynowicz presents the newest tutorials from RA with an in depth look at the process of Dodge and Burn as well as Color Grading.
If you are a shooter or video producer, you know that there are many things that go into creating great video. Sure, using the right gear is key. Composition and lighting are key. But after the video is shot, shot selection, pacing, and color correction have to be considered for the edit. Then there are graphics. Titles, lower thirds, transitions, and the like have to be designed and animated. There are tons of parts that go into making one complete, great-looking video. And it’s hard to master every aspect of video production – not to mention the fact that time and budget constraints make things even harder.
