Battle of the Premium 35mm Mirrorless Lenses: Sony Versus Sigma

A wide-aperture 35mm lens is a versatile tool, useful for a wide range of genres ranging from portraiture to events coverage and more. For Sony shooters, two of the most premium options are the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM and Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art, and this excellent video review takes a look at how the two perform for portraiture and which edges out the other.

Coming to you from Julia Trotti, this great video review compares the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM to the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art lens. Normally, we are used to Sigma undercutting the prices of first-party lenses, but in this case, the Sigma option is actually $100 more expensive, though you get an extra third of a stop of aperture. On the other hand, Sony's lens is very new and offers a variety of newer features and improvements. It is pretty clear that both lenses are high-level performers and impressively sharp, even wide open, and though they are certainly quite pricey, if you need or want some of the best image quality out there at a versatile focal length, they are both great choices. Check out the video above for Trotti's full thoughts on both lenses.
