Can This Affordable, Long Zoom Lens Keep Up With More Expensive Options?

100-400mm zoom lenses are some of the most popular out there, offering a highly versatile focal length range suitable for just about everything from wildlife photography to sports and more. There are many versions of such lenses at a wide range of prices, with the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM sitting at the budget end of things, and this excellent video review takes a look at the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in real-world usage.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this great video review takes a look at the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM lens. Certainly, this lens has a rather narrow set of maximum apertures, which may be a limiting factor depending on the applications you have in mind for it, but on the other hand, the RF 600mm f/11 and RF 800mm f/11 have shown that such lenses can perform quite well on modern mirrorless bodies so long as they have decent light to work with. And beyond that, they tend to be much more portable and affordable than other options. Check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts on the lens.

just keep it attached to a tripod, and you'll be fine

I have never attached mine to a tripod and doubt I ever will. The lens is great and amazing for wildlife. Time to jump into the future and realize that new cameras open wide possibilities for new lenses.
