Comparing the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM to the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens

35mm lenses with wide apertures are some of the most popular out there, and there is certainly no shortage of options for Sony shooters. This excellent video comparison takes a look at two choices, the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM and the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art.

Coming to you from Julia Trotti, this great video review compares the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM to the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art. At $500 less than the Sony G Master, Sigma's 35mm f/1.4 Art presents a nice value proposition, though both lenses perform impressively well — so well that unless you are really pixel-peeping, it is unlikely you will strongly prefer one over the other. On the other hand, there are a few other properties worth considering. For video shooters, it is important to note that the Sony lens can leverage the focus breathing compensation in newer Sony bodies. There is also the issue of autofocus speed and reliability. If you need the absolute best, it seems that the Sony edges out the Sigma, though that is not to say the latter's performance is bad. Either way, they are both impressive performers that seem sure to please. Check out the video above for Trotti's full thoughts on both lenses.
