Do You Need the M1 Ultra Chip in Your Mac Studio?

The Mac Studio is powerful — ridiculously so. It comes in two flavors, the M1 Max and M1 Ultra, and you might be wondering which version is right for your needs. This great video review discusses both and weighs their performance and cost to help you decide.

Coming to you from Tyler Stalman, this excellent video review discusses whether you should opt for the Mac Studio with the M1 Max chip or the M1 Ultra, which is essentially two M1 Max chips fused together, offering even more performance. We were highly impressed by the Mac Studio in our reviews. I looked at the M1 Ultra version in my review, while Mel Martin took a look at the M1 Max version in his review. Mel essentially detailed that the Max version could handily tackle just about anything a photographer can throw at it, and as I mentioned in my review, the Ultra is downright absurd and can, without a doubt, handle anything you could ever conceive of. There is definitely an argument that the Ultra will provide a significant level of futureproofing, but I have full confidence that the Max will last most creatives a long time as well. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Stalman.
