A Review of the Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S Lens

Nikon started out its mirrorless Z mount with mostly pragmatic lenses, but as time has gone on, the library has expanded to more extreme designs. One such example is the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens, and this excellent video review takes a look at the lens and the kind of image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review takes a look at the Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens. The 50mm f/1.2 is a premium lens that comes with a variety of great features, including:

  • Three spherical aberrations for reduced distortion and increased sharpness
  • Two extra-low dispersion elements for reduced chromatic aberrations and increased clarity
  • ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats for reduced ghosting and flares and increased contrast
  • Super Integrated Coating for accurate colors
  • Multi-focus system with two separate AF drive units for faster and more accurate focusing, quiet enough for both stills and video work
  • Customizable Control Ring
  • OLED information panel that displays aperture, focus distance, and depth of field
  • Customizable L.Fn button
  • Electromagnetic aperture mechanism for greater exposure stability at high burst rates
  • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh
  • Dust- and moisture-resistant construction

Altogether, the 50mm f/1.2 looks like quite a premium lens. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts on the lens.
