A Review of the Venus Optics Laowa Argus 25mm f/0.95 APS-C APO Lens

Venus Optics has gained a reputation for producing unique and interesting lenses that allow photographers to explore the boundaries of their creativity. One of their newest lenses is the Laowa Argus 25mm f/0.95 APS-C APO, which offers a wide variety of APS-C users an ultra-wide aperture in tandem with a versatile and relatively neutral focal length. The 25mm f/0.95 is available for a range of APS-C mounts, including Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, Canon EF-M, and Fuji X. In addition to that ultra-wide aperture, it comes with a range of useful features, including:

  • Apochromatic design for less aberrations and better image quality
  • 14 elements in nine groups
  • Nine aperture blades for smoother bokeh
  • 34 cm minimum focusing distance (0.15x maximum magnification)
  • 3.2 inches (8.1 cm) long
  • 20.3 ounces (575 g)
