Three Years With the Impressive Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens

The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens was one of the first made for the company's full frame mirrorless mount, and it put the photography world on notice by showing Canon was committing to a new standard of image quality in their RF lenses, a standard that has been upheld in many of their lenses released in the last few years. This great video review talks about the lens' performance and image quality after three years and almost 70,000 photos and if it is worth the premium price.

Coming to you from Steven Schultz, this great video review looks at the RF 50mm f/1.2L USM after three years and tens of thousands of photos with the lens. I have had the EF 50mm f/1.2L for several years, and while it offers really beautiful renderings with a lot of character, it is never particularly sharp at wide apertures, and you can't really trust the autofocus. The newer RF version seems to have corrected those issues by a mile, offering super-sharp images even wide open in tandem with excellent autofocus, making it the kind of lens that people like wedding and portrait photographers treasure. It is certainly quite expensive as far as 50mm lenses go, but it does seem like it lives up to that price for anyone looking for top-level quality. Check out the video above for Schultz' full thoughts.
