A Beginner's Guide to Street Photography

Street photography can be a very challenging and intimidating genre, particularly when you are a beginner, but if you persevere with it, it can seriously benefit your skills across quite a few genres. If you are new to the genre and unsure of how to tackle it, check out this fantastic video tutorial that will show you everything you need to know to head out and get started shooting.

Coming to you from Frederik Trovatten, this great video tutorial will show you the ins and outs of street photography, including settings, composition, dealing with being shy (and when it comes to that, do what keeps you comfortable and safe), and more. Not many people make street photography their primary genre, but it can provide a lot of benefits for working in areas like portrait or wedding photography. It teaches you to read light and composition quickly and to anticipate action and interactions as they develop in front of you, some of which may be happening outside the frame, requiring you to be able to really read entire scenes and not just what you are pointing your camera at. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Trovatten.
