The Effects Of Drug Abuse: Before and After

The Effects Of Drug Abuse: Before and After

London photog, Roman Sakovich, has created a short series of photos illustrating the effects of drug abuse on a person. Even though the makeup is a bit overdone at times (IMO), I think he did a great job at showing who the person was and what they became. These shots tell a good story and paint a real picture. Enjoy!

Excellent! Also very upsetting.

Interesting idea, poor execution.

So, when you take drugs you get sores on your face and wear different designer clothes?

I get what the photographer was trying to go for, being provocative and all, but its a lame attempt.

Strip away the title and this could just be a "Proactiv" ad.

awesome... this made me laugh out loud.  Though i would even go as far to say that its not that interesting of an idea but rather cliche :(

every one got same effects :P

Recreational Drugs turn you into Zombies?

this is more ' what you become when you change clothes and suddenly become a zombie while changing '

I'm going to say that I like it - for starters at least it is lighting is "studio quality". This resonates with me as if the people are showing two different possible futures, and neither are decided yet. Now what would make this (to me) even more powerful is if the models where young teens, dressed up as (adult) professionals/addicts. Schrödinger's kids, so to speak.

Reminds me of videos directed by Darren Aronofsky for  The Meth Proejct awareness campaign - www.methproject.org/ads/tv/ - some really powerful stuff!

"These shots tell a good story and paint a real picture"

Not the best choice of description since these are not real at all.

It would have been better to show side by side images one of the person in the old happy work or social environment with friends or family and next one of the same person on the streets begging, stealing, shooting up, etc.

Drug addiction and its effects are often way more subtle and profound than this.

Set aside the message and its affects, I like this dichotomy. Its even more striking when you put your hand up to the screen to block one half off, then move your hand over!
